Quick and Dirty Virtual Show Feb 2025

30 minutes for a painting? It’s a little like the four-minute mile, or the Kentucky Derby….
But that’s the point of this show— 30 minutes of painting (or drawing or sculpting) to create something wonderful. Or at least moderately wonderful. Or maybe just O.K. Doesn’t matter.
It is all in the preparations. I don’t believe that the thinking and pondering and imagining counts on the clock. So, we just get ready and when the bell rings— GO!

Joan Eckman

“Stormy”

5 x 7 Acrylic
NFS
By Joan Eckman
This painting is from a cropped large photo of an ominous storm in the east with the setting sun behind me.
Having sun behind the artist seems to exaggerate the darkness of an approaching storm. It was fun to do and will be used as a preliminary sketch for a large picture of the complete scene. At least I got some questions answered about color and composition.

“Campsite”

NFS
By Joan Eckman
This quick sketch will be utilized as color notes and composition ideas for larger paintings. What fun.
