The Yakima Arts Commission, an advisory group appointed by the Yakima City Council, developed an idea to harness the creativity of Central Washington artists to invigorate windows of empty downtown storefronts by displaying their work as part of a project called, "Windows Alive!". "Windows Alive!" is part of an ongoing effort to bring public art in Downtown Yakima. Current window displays are located on Yakima Avenue between the Hotel Maison and Third Street.

The Dia de los Muertos exhibit will run Oct. 29 - Nov. 18, 2023 at the Mighty Tieton Warehouse. Gallery hours are Friday and Saturday 12-5 p.m. or by appointment.
Dia de Los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a vibrant cultural tradition celebrated in Yakima. Here are some events that took place in 2023:
1. Dia De Los Muertos with the Yakima-Morelia Sister City Association at the Valley Mall: This event will be held daily from October 28th to November 4th, 11am - 6pm. It will feature a Community Altar Exhibit, Clay Art Workshop, Aztec Dancers, Catrina Contest, Student Art Exhibit, and Ballet Folkloric.
2. Día de los Muertos Community Celebration at Mighty Tieton: This celebration begins with an opening community celebration with live performances, artists, a stunning gallery exhibit, music, arts and crafts activities, sugar skull decorating and a mercado featuring artisans and foods. The community celebration takes place on October 29 from 12 pm to 5 pm. You can visit and view the gallery and altar through November 18, Fridays and Saturdays 12 to 5 pm and by appointment.
These events are a wonderful way to experience the traditions and significance of Dia de Los Muertos. Enjoy the celebrations!

The Images of the Shrub-Steppe is an annual art exhibit presented by the Cowiche Canyon Conservancy and the Boxx Gallery. This exhibit features a diversity of visual art inspired by the shrub-steppe, a unique ecosystem in the Yakima Valley.
Here are some details about the 2023 exhibition:
- The exhibit will run from September 1 to October 8, 2023.
- The exhibit is juried by Renee Adams.
- The artwork featured is inspired by the shrub-steppe lands of Cowiche Canyon Conservancy.
- The Boxx Gallery is located at 616 Maple Street, Tieton, WA.
This event provides a unique opportunity for artists to showcase their creativity and for visitors to appreciate the beauty of the shrub-steppe ecosystem. Enjoy the exhibition!

Boxx Gallery is pleased to announce the “Cornucopia: Art of the Harvest” exhibit.
This year “cornucopia” is interpretations and depictions of harvest in our beautiful valley. Fruits and vegetables, farmland, orchards — all the abundance of our valley is ripe with inspiration!
The Boxx Gallery in Tieton, Washington, hosted an exhibit called "Cornucopia: The Art of Harvest". This exhibit was a celebration of the harvest season, featuring interpretations and depictions of the abundance found in the local valley. The exhibit showcased a variety of fruits, vegetables, farmland, and orchards.
The "Cornucopia: The Art of Harvest" exhibit was open from October 13 to November 11 2023. The gallery was open on Fridays from 12pm–5pm and Saturdays from 11am–4pm. There was also an opening reception held on Saturday, October 14 from 1–3pm.
The Boxx Gallery is a non-profit art gallery and community gathering space that supports the Highland Food Bank. It hosts a variety of exhibitions showcasing different artist disciplines.
