The Earth, turning slowly, ever shifting her seasons, speaks to us all in different ways. Artists, in their own turn, take in the mysteries of earth’s gifts through their understanding of color, relationships of lines, and shapes. These they rearrange or interpret from deep information in their own experience.
Two may stand on the same rock, paint the same scene before them and yet hang two very different pieces, both inspired by Nature. Like Nature, neither painting is “right”.
In Nature, neither waterfall is “right”, neither joining of field and sky is “right”, neither bug nor horse is “right”. The joy of inspiration is in the individual, to express as is their inclination.

"Tieton Andosite"
12" x 16" Yellow onion skin dye on fabric
$50
by Jennifer Boyer
This small wall hanging quilt measures 12" by 16" and is hand dyed using yellow onion skins from the McIlrath Farm stand. The design evokes the colors and shapes of the Cowiche Canyon. The piece is finished with hand stitching for extra texture. Completed summer of 2023. I love to highlight the ways in which we can use natural materials bound for the compost bin (or trash) to create beautiful colors.
